When you generate electricity with a solar panel, the produced electricity does not come into the system in a smooth voltage. The purpose of a Regulator is to ensure your system feed in electricity is regulated. It also offers you the opportunity to link your solar panels with the batteries and lights.

When the solar panel produce electricity it is stored in the batteries and whenever you need the electricity, you can draw it from the batteries.
